This peer support group aims to provide a safe space for managers and supervisors to find community, support, and resources for managing the unique challenges of middle management withing gender-based violence organizations. Group members are encouraged to bring specific scenarios to the group and engage in reflective discussion. The group is a safe and non-judgmental space to openly share experiences and with the goal of building connection and gaining tools for self-care and healing.
About the Facilitator: Sonya Crabtree-Nelson PhD, LCSW is an associate professor in the Social Work department at DePaul University. She is also the co-director of the Illinois Coalition to Address Intimate Partner Violence-Induced Brain Injury, which works to bring focus to the intersection of brain injury and intimate partner violence. She is a researcher and scholar who has presented at national and international conferences and published articles in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to gender-based violence, resilience, and social work practice. With over 20 years of social work practice and middle management experience, Sonya employs a relational approach to supervision and group work grounded in Relational Cultural Theory.
This group will meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 12-1pm.
This group is open to staff from all IDHS-funded DV/SA service providers in Illinois.
