This training prepares participants to assist the National Weather Service and local officials with early detection of hazardous weather and ground truth reports during severe weather events. Participants will learn how the NWS warning system works and how spotters fit into it, how organized thunderstorms form, and how to recognize meaningful signs of severe weather. The session also covers storm-spotting safety and proper reporting procedures.
