Defensive Handgun
NOT BUILT IN A CLASSROOM.
TRAINED ENTIRELY ON THE RANGE.
Most classes have you sit, watch, then finally get to shoot.
This one doesn’t.
Everything is taught, demonstrated, and applied on the range—so you’re not just hearing it, you’re doing it.
No wasted time. No PowerPoint. No disconnect between what you’re told and what you actually do.
You carry for a reason. This is where you train like it matters.
“Each concept was explained and demoed clearly—and I never felt left behind.”
“I’m not an expert shooter, and I left feeling confident and in control.”
—Code 7 Tactical Students
What is Defensive Handgun?
Defensive Handgun is a one-day course designed for people who carry—and want to get real reps in the skills that actually matter.
You’ll build a deliberate draw, move with purpose, and learn to problem-solve with your pistol under pressure.
This isn’t a slow-paced basics class or a recycled competition-style course. It’s focused, hands-on training that builds real capability.
By the end of the day, you’ll be able to:
- Draw from the holster with purpose
- Move off the "X" and shoot with intention
- Reload and clear malfunctions under pressure
- Transition between targets with speed and accuracy
- Handle your pistol in a way that’s repeatable and deliberate—even under stress
How This Class Is Run:
- Everything is taught on the range—no classroom portion
- Every concept is demonstrated before you run it
- You’ll apply each skill immediately through structured reps
- Instruction is direct, clear, and to the point—no wasted time
What This Class Is Not:
- No classroom or PowerPoint portion
- No drawn-out lectures before you touch the gun
- No “watch first, maybe do later” structure
Instruction is clear, direct, and immediately applied—so you’re never left wondering what to do next.
How You’ll Build These Skills:
➤ Draw & First Shot Mechanics
Build a confident draw stroke and get your gun into the fight with purpose—without wasted movement or hesitation.
➤ Movement Fundamentals
Move with control and intention. Learn how angles, distance, and decision-making drive your movement.
➤ Target Transitions
Break tunnel vision. Process multiple targets and move the gun deliberately—not just fast.
➤ Malfunction Clearing
Diagnose and solve malfunctions quickly through clean reps and pressure-based sequences.
What Students Are Saying:
“You’ve challenged all of my bad habits.”
“Even advanced shooters could benefit from this class.”
“I’m not a very advanced shooter… and I never felt left behind.”
“It was a really relaxed environment. It felt very safe.”
“My confidence completely changed after this class.”
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone serious about running their handgun—not just owning one.
- Newer shooters who want to start the right way
- Experienced shooters who want more than static range drills
- Professionals looking for training beyond the basics
You should already be able to safely handle your firearm, load it, and follow basic range safety practices—this is not a first-time introduction to handling a gun.
- If you can do that, we’ll build from there.
“I absolutely would recommend a Code 7 class whether someone is a beginner shooter, intermediate shooter, or advanced shooter.”
—Code 7 Tactical Student

- You’ll be expected to follow safety protocols at all times

Relevant Feedback
Exceptional class that I am walking away with several tools to better myself. Corrected a couple bad habits along the way. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to better themselves.
Chad is engaging and lead everyone through a logical progression of skills that built upon one another. No ammunition was wasted nor was any time. Looking forward to 2 & 3.
Chad was an excellent hands on instructor. The course of instruction was outstanding. The pace of the instruction was just right. If I didn’t live so far away, I would like to take more courses that he offers. Maybe when “the stars align”
Super helpful for me. Learned much and gained a level of proficiency and technique that I can practice on my own to improve my proficiency even more. Great day.
