The process of launching into your future can be intimidating. Students can feel stuck and paralyzed by how to begin. We will break it down together into small steps: the skills needed and the planning required to help students create a personalized roadmap and enjoy the journey of discovering their path! We will use the book "What Color is Your Parachute for Teens" as well as many website resources to guide our learning. Topics covered will include:

• How to figure out your college/career path
• How to translate what you are good at and enjoy into a career 
• Conversations with professionals in your career 
• Ways to develop your "soft skills" in high school that employers desire
• How to find mentoring/internships
• Preparation and practice on how to interview
• Preparing a resume for employment and scholarships
• Crafting a great college essay and letters for internships or scholarships
• Exploring the timeline/action steps for preparing to apply to college and trade schools

 This will be a hands-on class where we write, discuss and role play scenarios. Work will be completed in class together, but there will be some homework assignments as well. As part of this class we will have a personalized career fair which I will put together based on the needs of the students enrolled.
