Clay Center of New Orleans Classes & Workshops

Sculpt playable musical instruments in this half-day summer clay camp! Throughout history, cultures all over the world have crafted rattles, whistles, and fancy ocarinas from fired clay, and now you can too.

In this course, students will use hand-building skills to build a clay rattle and a playable clay ocarina or two. Students will decorate their instruments with non-toxic colorful glazes and then Clay Center staff will fire them in our kilns. Pieces will be ready for pick-up within two weeks of the last day of this course. Absolutely no prior clay experience is needed to enjoy this tootin' good time!

This course is appropriate for students at the following levels:

• Beginner (no prior experience)

Included in your tuition

• Midrange stoneware clay
• Kiln firing for pieces made in this class
• Use of communal child-safe studio tools
• Use of non-toxic glazes
