ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS

This is a programme of 2 1-day workshops. By booking, you commit to attending both workshops.

WORKSHOP 1 - THE JOURNEY OF THE SERVE FROM BEGINNER TO 12 AND UNDER

Course description: A one-day International Coach Workshop which covers the key stages of the development of the serve from beginners to competitive players at Under 12. The course covers information on the 4 performance factors which can be applied to your players, along with great drills and principles of organisation to ensure that the serve becomes a major part of your coaching.

Course duration: 6 hours on court including breaks

Course learning outcomes:

By attending this workshop you will:

  • Understanding the importance of developing the serve from an early age
  • Key technical checkpoints for developing the serve at each age group from Red to Under 12
  • Key tactical principles for the serve, including how to connect the serve to the rest of the game
  • Ideas on how all 4 performance factors (tactical, technical, mental and physical)
  • Ideas of drills and activities to make serving fun and achievable for your players
  • Principles of organisation to ensure that serving is a fun and dynamic part of every lesson

WORKSHOP 2 - 10 AND UNDER DOUBLES: DEVELOPING GAME SKILLS AND LIFE SKILLS FROM THE ORANGE COURT

Course description: A one-day International Coach Workshop which provides an insight into how doubles can be introdcued to young players on the Orange court. The workshop shows how both game skills and life skills can be developed side by side through activities and drills which focus on developing game understanding, tactics, decision-making, teamwork and communication in the main game situations on the doubles court.

Course duration: 6 hours on court, including breaks

Course learning outcomes:

By attending this workshop you will:

  • get ideas on how to introduce doubles to young players from the orange court programme
  • gain insight into how to develop teamwork and communication in doubles with young players
  • take away ideas on how to start introducing some simple patterns of play involving all 4 players
  • understand how to use doubles to develop life skills in young players beyond the tennis court
  • get a wide range of activities, games and drills to implement into your junior programme immediately
  • receive a certificate of attendance and a set of course notes covering the key information from this workshop

Attendees will receive a certificate for attendance at both workshops, and an electronic version of the course training manuals.

ABOUT YOUR PRESENTER

Mark is Founder and Director of Coach Central International, a UK-based worldwide coach education provider. Mark is an experienced and sought-after international tennis coach educator, speaker and consultant, who has worked with coaches from over 100 countries around the world. Mark previously worked at the ITF and the LTA (UK), and has presented in conferences in over 80 countries, including ITF Worldwide Coaches Workshops, and Gland Slam conferences in the UK and Australia.

As presenter of these 2 1-day workshops, Mark will share his experience, ideas and insight into some important topics in coaching, leaving you with a wide range of ideas and solutions which you can implement into your programme immediately.
