Confident Communicator: Spontaneous Speaking (4th-5th)
In this dynamic camp, students learn how to think on their feet and confidently deliver speeches with little preparation time. Campers will practice responding to a variety of fun and thought-provoking prompts, learning how to quickly organize their thoughts and turn ideas into clear, engaging speeches.
Through guided exercises and supportive coaching, students will develop techniques for structuring a speech in moments learning how to create strong openings, organize key points, and deliver memorable conclusions. Campers will also explore creative ways to draw from personal experiences, examples, and observations to make their speeches more engaging and authentic.
How it Applies to the Real World: Students build critical life skills such as quick thinking, adaptability, confidence under pressure, and the ability to communicate ideas clearly. These skills help students participate more confidently in class discussions, presentations, interviews, and leadership opportunities.
Deliverable: At the end of the camp, students will participate in an in-class speaking showcase where they will demonstrate their impromptu speaking skills, receive personalized feedback from coaches, and earn a certificate of completion.
