Join author and educator Kimm Topping for an inspiring author talk on their debut book, Generation Queer (Lee & Low Books, 2025), a nonfiction collection celebrating 30 young LGBTQIA+ leaders shaping our world through activism, art, and education. Kimm will share behind- the-scenes insights into the creation of the book, explore major themes, offer readings, and open the floor for discussion. Written as a “curiosity guide,” the book is rich with resources, history, and inspiration for readers of all backgrounds. Kimm Topping is a writer, educator, and founder of Lavender Education, a creative education and publishing platform that blends storytelling, history, and hands-on creative practice. They are the author of Generation Queer (Lee & Low Books) and creator of community-based public history projects including Mapping Feminist Cambridge and Mapping Queer Boston. Kimm regularly leads collage, history, and storytelling workshops at libraries, museums, and cultural spaces nationwide, helping participants connect with history through accessible, creative learning. Their work has been recognized by the 2025Lavender Rhino Award from Queer History Boston, the 2025 Curve Power List, and the 2023 Inaugural In-Service Award from the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition. Kimm is based in Brooklyn, NY.
