FatCat member Eric Drysdale is excited to present his acclaimed vintage 3-D time-travel show, "Midcentury Stereopanorama," as seen in The New York Times, Atlas Obscura and WNYC.
Not a class exactly— but you will learn the history and science behind the Stereo Realist camera system, nicknamed by enthusiasts the “VR of the 1950s.”
For a brief moment in the 1950s, 3-D caught on as a major craze among photographers. They leave behind a treasure trove of incredible, immersive, full-color 3-D images chronicling post-war America in astounding depth. Eric has been amassing a collection of over 30,000 of these images over three decades. You’ll see both the most typical and best of the bunch.
This is a one-of-a-kind chance to experience this stunning, forgotten technology the way it was meant to be experienced. Each attendee will get a fully- restored (at FatCat!) high-quality vintage achromatic stereo viewer for the night and look into over 100 windows into the past that will transport you with uncanny realism to midcentury America. All analog. All electromechanical. All photochemical.
Part Science. Part History. Part Seance. You won’t believe your eyes!
Only 12 seats are available in FatCat’s new conference-style space. Runs about 1hr. 45min
IMPORTANT: TICKETING FOR THIS EVENT IS NOT BEING HANDLED THROUGH CORSIZIO-- SEE LINK BELOW.
