Aya Fiber Studio

This workshop will begin by exploring the history and cultural background of boro fabric, along with the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi. Students will learn the basics of sakiori weaving and sashiko stitching using simple tools and looms made from everyday recycled materials. They will experiment with material selection, weaving variations, and different yarn arrangements. Building on these foundations, each person will move beyond traditional Japanese styles to develop their own contemporary boro piece. At the end, each participant will take home a Boro bag or a unique fabric piece. All levels
