Learn to Solder
Maximum Students: 7
Duration: 4 hrs
Prerequisites: None
Our learn-to-solder class includes everything you need for a head-start into the wondrous world of electronics, and is appropriate for kids. Each participant will receive this project kit and a soldering iron, plus a 9V battery, all to take home after class. The fun-to-assemble flashing European siren kit includes beginning electronic theory, parts identification including color code, and of course soldering! Each kit includes solder, an industrial-grade circuit board, led lights, resistors, capacitors, semi conductors and other components.
This 4-hour class includes a lot of soldering practice as we walk through how to build the kit, including activities that will help you start to learn about the world of electronics. This class makes a great prerequisite to our more advanced Arduino and Raspberry Pi classes.
Note: Beginning May, 2026, there is a $30 fee for the class, payable upon enrollment. (Previously, we asked students to buy the kit and soldering iron separately.) If you need to cancel your registration after paying, please contact education@rocmakers.org to arrange a refund. We cannot provide refunds for cancellations within 48 hours of class.
You must be a member of Rochester Makerspace to attend.
