Explore the joy of linoleum block carving and repeat pattern printing on fabric. Learn to design, carve your blocks, ink up and print a variety of repeating patterns using transparent pigments with infinite color mixing options. Carving is done with a set of tools that last a lifetime. Take home your hand-carved blocks, hand printed fabrics, an information handout and printing skills for continued use. Carving is done with sharp tools.

What You'll Learn:

• Create original designs for block printing
• Transfer your designs onto linoleum blocks
• Carve blocks safely and effectively using carving tools
• Mix colors, ink up blocks and print repeat patterns across larger sections of fabric (yardage)

• Knowledge and confidence to design, carve, and print independently
• Hand-printed fabrics you created during the workshop
• Your own collection of carved blocks

Note: Instructor will provide a basic kit that includes :

• 4 prepared linoleum blocks, bench hook for carving, tracing & transfer paper, instructional handout, cleaning brush, Textile pigments, T-pins, and Ziplock bag.

Instructor will also bring for students to use during the workshop:

• Foam printing pads, black India ink, and additional materials.

A fee, payable to the instructor, will be charged each student for materials used and class kits.
