*This month, we'll be getting loose and playful, working with loose, organic shapes from Japanese flower arrangements. These will be interpreted through multimedia: watercolor, acrylic & pen and ink.
Fear not! You need no background in painting to create at NExT. Our creative process invites a personal metaphor to be interpreted through painting. Themes include exploring fast and slow, patient and impatient, present and distracted, perfectionistic and carefree, curious and controlled, spontaneous and routine.
The art process can mirror or challenge norms, depending on preferences. If creating brings out your perfectionistic side, we can support a very playful and loose approach to the art process to assist in a counter experience through art. Or you can simply enjoy the satisfaction of the detail that arrives with hyperfocus. By contrast, if rushing to the next thing is part of one's modern day norm, slowing down and creating mindfully with presence in the process can be invited. There are no right or wrong ways to create or be. Exploring ways of curiously and compassionately examining the self is spacious through the art experience. Art becomes a mirror and a source of exploration--it allows an experience of gently stepping into new ways and practices that invite new approaches that generalize to other aspects of life. Regardless of what brings you to create, creative process offers a haven to support presence to what is, and to connect with others, while calming the mind. What you wish to experience is unique. What is universal is the open invitation to just be you, create your way, and get what you need out of a creative workshop!
This group varies month by month, using expressive arts processes that bring artists into new practices that invite play, free expression and approaches that remove barriers to the creative, expressive process.
NO ART BACKGRUND NEEDED! We are process-oriented, not outcome or product-oriented. We are interested in the power of the art process and co creative process, with the way art looks or evolves being unimportant.
