Welcome to this 11 week term.

As I will now be overseeing payments, in order to reduce my administrative burden, it is my preference that you pay in one up front payment. If this is a barrier to you being able to do pottery classes, I can accept partial payment (2 half payments) but I ask that you please check this with me first.

This is a class where you can learn the basics of wheel throwing from preparing clay to centering, making cylinders which are the basis of many forms and then, in time bowls. There are some people in this class who have done previous terms at Ata and some who will be complete beginners.

Working together, we will be practicing to build your skill-set in the art and practice of wheel throwing as well as learning safe practices within the studio to set you on your way. Although we may not be making that particular tea-set you’ve been dreaming of, you will no doubt have some beautiful pieces at the end of the course to take home with you.

Clay is a lot of fun, so please bring your sense of humour and come prepared to get messy.

We have a maximum of 8 students in our classes, and it’s relaxed, supportive environment in which to learn.

Please bring:

• Apron/old clothes/overalls (as you will get clay on you!)
• Old shoes to wear
• A small wooden board (A4-ish in size) to take your work home on
• Plastic bags (delivered newspaper’s plastic sheaths are great)
• an old towel for your hands and lap
• a lidded container for collecting slops to recycling later

REFUND POLICY
Please pay your fees prior to the start of class via Corsizio to secure your place. If you need to cancel for any reason, we ask that you give 3 days notice before the course commences. If we are unable to fill your spot we cannot guarantee a refund if you haven’t given adequate notice. Refunds are only given in exceptional circumstances.

Clay and glazing fees are additional to lesson fees. Allow approximately $20 - $40 over the term, depending on the quantity and size of pieces you produce. You are able to pay for these on the day of purchase at the studio, via eftpos, cash, or bank transfer.
