Legal Advocate Feedback Session on Karina's Law Implementation
With one year of Karina's Law being in effect, join the Policy, Advocacy and Research team from The Network: Advocating Against Domestic Violence to have a focused in-person discussion on implementation in the first year. What has gone well with the new law? What hasn't gone well? What are the common issues survivors and advocates face in accessing firearms relief under the law?
Here's what you need to know:
When: 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026
Location: Simmons Center for Global Chicago, 303 E Wacker Dr, Suite 2108, Chicago, IL
Timeline:
- 2 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.: Welcome & Karina's Law Overview
- 2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.: Feedback Discussion
- 3:15 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.: Report Out and Wrap Up
This event only open to Network partners only. We encourage organizations to prioritize sending legal advocates and legal program supervisors who regularly work with survivors in filing orders of protection in civil and criminal court. Advance registration is required by Tuesday, April 28 at 5 pm. Attendees will need to present an ID to building security upon arrival.
In-person attendance is preferred to facilitate better conversation around Karina's Law implementation, but virtual accommodations are available upon request, particularly for partner organizations from outside of Cook County and the Chicago area.
