Class Description

I like to think of this as “living room” style theater, laid back and maybe just a small step up from the productions we used to put on in the entryway of our house as kids. This is a “come one, come all” style theater class, meaning anyone who wants to be on stage gets to be, but we also need students willing to work behind the scenes, backstage, working with props, lights, etc. Students will learn theater basics, including preparing for an audition, simple set and costume design, and line memorization, and will have the opportunity to perform with an ensemble cast. I hope that theater students will walk away with improved communication skills, increased self-confidence, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well with a team. Participating in theater provides students with a valuable skill set that extends far beyond the stage, equipping them for success in life beyond the classroom.
We will use Playing with Plays for our script and plan to have a performance in the spring (date TBD, likely late March/early April). The 4-6 theater class will perform The Jungle Book.
