NRA INSTRUCTOR PISTOL SHOOTING COURSE
NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Instructor Course Description
The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Instructor Course is designed to prepare qualified candidates to organize, promote, and teach the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. This training provides the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to become an effective and responsible firearms instructor.
Instructor candidates must already possess fundamental firearm safety and basic pistol shooting skills. Before the course begins, each candidate completes a pre-course questionnaire and participates in pre-course assessment exercises to demonstrate their background and readiness for instructor-level training.
The course is conducted in two parts: Basic Instructor Training (BIT) and discipline-specific instructor training for pistol shooting. Throughout the program, candidates develop and demonstrate their teaching ability, organizational skills, and understanding of NRA training methods through practical exercises and hands-on participation. Successful completion of the course includes passing an instructor certification examination.
Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Pistol Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet, and the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course Student Packet.
