Handbuilding for the Garden: A 6-Week Clay Class 🌿🏺
Bring your garden to life with handmade pottery! In this 6-week handbuilding class, students will create a collection of functional and decorative pieces designed specifically for outdoor spaces.
Using slab, coil, and sculptural techniques, we’ll make a variety of garden-inspired forms such as planters, herb markers, watering bells, small garden totems, bird feeders, and decorative vessels for patios or flower beds. You might also explore wall pockets for plants, lanterns, or whimsical sculptural accents to add personality to your space.
Along the way, you’ll learn how to build strong, weather-friendly forms and experiment with texture, carving, and surface design inspired by nature — from leaf impressions to layered patterns.
Each week will introduce new projects while leaving room to refine and personalize your work. Whether you’re drawn to clean, functional pieces or more playful, sculptural forms, you’ll have the freedom to develop your own style.
This class is perfect for beginners and returning students who want to slow down, get their hands in the clay, and create meaningful pieces for the spaces they love.
Come get a little muddy and make something beautiful for your garden 🌸
