Investigating reportable allegations (Advanced)
This training workshop is specifically designed for investigators and decision-makers who have experience conducting investigations and making decisions under the NSW Reportable Conduct Scheme. The workshop will focus on key areas where investigations are known to have complexities and be subject to requests for review and/or successfully challenge the findings. The objective of the training is to provide best-practice guidance on what is required to ensure you are demonstrating you are meeting your obligations when conducting your investigations, through your:
- systems and processes
- communication with stakeholders (including the SOA)
- investigation planning and risk management
- interviewing and other inquiries
- analysis of evidence
- documentation of rationales (and every aspect of the investigation)
- correct application of the relevant tests and thresholds in making a finding
- reasonable risk management and action in response to the findings
- s57 information disclosure
- information exchange that assesses and makes appropriate redactions of unnecessary information
We will also look at some of the areas of practice that can be more challenging, including:
- assessing alleged patterns of conduct
- managing multiple processes (ie civil claims that are reportable allegations etc)
- reasonable assessment of request for a review of finding or appeal
- complex risk management
Please note: If you enrol to attend and you do not have experience conducting investigations under the NSW Reportable Conduct Scheme, as this is an advanced course, the facilitator will not delay the day's agenda to explain the more foundational concepts to you, and you will likely find that the content is not suited to your needs.
Participant representation: This training is not sector specific and welcomes participants from any child-related sector captured by the NSW Reportable Conduct Scheme. This breadth of participation enhances the experience in the room and sectors are able to benefit from the learnings and experience of others, as well as providing the opportunity to consider the impact of the adequacy of how their part of the sector is currently engaging in information exchange with other child-related sectors/employers in the course of responding to reportable allegation.
Unexpected circumstances requiring rescheduling: In the event that circumstances arise where the facilitator is unwell or other emergent circumstances, the training may be postponed to a later date. Michelle White Consulting & Training will either refund your payment or transfer it to a future course. In the event that a cancellation or postponement of the training is required, Michelle White Consulting & Training will give the earliest possible advice to enrolled participants, but will not be liable for refunding travel, accommodation, meal or any other expenses incurred outside of the cost of the training.
