Safe Food Handling

This full‑day, in-person Safe Food Handling course provides participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely handle food and prevent foodborne illness in accordance with Canadian food safety standards. The course is suitable for individuals working in food preparation, food service, catering, or any setting where food is handled or served to the public.

Participants will learn how food contamination occurs and how it can be prevented through proper personal hygiene, safe food handling practices, cleaning and sanitizing, temperature control, food storage, and allergen awareness. The training focuses on real‑world scenarios and best practices to support safe and compliant food operations.

The course is delivered by an approved food safety trainer and concludes with a Food Handler Certificate examination, which is included as part of the full‑day training. Participants who successfully complete the exam will receive a recognized Food Handler Certificate.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the causes of foodborne illness and methods of prevention
  • Apply proper personal hygiene and safe food handling techniques
  • Safely store, prepare, cook, and hold food
