The Climbing Company

This will be our "kick-off session" where Jackie and I show you how outdoor climbing looks, by taking you up an honestly quite amazing multi-pitch climb at Camel's Hump, Mt Macedon which is around 1hr from Melbourne.

We will meet at 0900 at the Mt Macedon Trading Post (https://maps.app.goo.gl/QSceBMTfgtyu4e5A9) where we'll have a table and a round of coffees and pastries provided for you. Then at around 10am we'll proceed to the Camel's Hump Car Park (https://goo.gl/maps/zFK7D3jFsb52), where we will fit you with harnesses and helmets and climbing shoes (if you have your own, feel free to bring them but at this stage note it is NOT necessary for you to own your own kit!).

The walk to the planned climb is around 5 minutes and once there Jackie and I will take 4 people each and lead them up a long, scrambly climb that will give you amazing views of the surrounding area. You'll carry a small backpack with some water and lunch/snacks suitable for 3-4 hours on the rock (plus breaks).

You'll have ample opportunity to ask questions, watch how the process works from our end and how we keep you safe, meet and talk to one another (you'll be learning alongside one another for several months after all!), and, once we're at the top, we'll throw in an amazing abseil from the very top to finish up the adventure!

The whole process normally takes all day (it can vary but generally with a 1:4 ratio and a "4-pitch" climb like this, plus the abseil, it can definitely take us well into the afternoon).

The day is very much a beginner-friendly adventure. Jackie and I constantly monitor how you are going and make sure that you are (1) safe, (2) challenged within your ability, and (3) having FUN. Remember that the whole point of the day is fun, so if you aren't having it then we are not doing our jobs properly! We're both very well practiced at guiding school students and family groups, so we're excited for the challenge to make sure it works out really well for you!
