Grade Band PreK-2: Number & Numeration
The Number & Numeration Content Clinic is designed to broaden and deepen educators’ understanding of the critical ideas in this foundational area of mathematical learning. In this clinic, participants will gain a thorough understanding of ideas around number and numeration and guidance in thinking flexibly about what students know and need to know in order to further their understanding. We will explore how these concepts relate to each other and to the mathematics students will encounter, allowing participants to support and expand students’ thinking. Understanding the key ideas in number and numeration, how these processes interact with students' cognitive development, and new perspectives informed by neuroscience will improve educators’ approach to teaching number and numeration topics.
