Contemporary Tukutuku with Anahera

Join tutor Anahera for a four‑week creative journey into the art of contemporary weaving.
In this hands-on course, you’ll learn essential fundamentals and gain an understanding of three traditional tukutuku patterns, while creating and completing an A4 sized tukutuku panel using modern materials. This fun, dynamic class is perfect for beginners and those looking to grow their skills in this beautiful Indigenous artform.

As a not-for-profit organisation, NGĀ ART (Te Whare Toi o Ngaaruawaahia) relies on grants, community funding, and donations to keep our classes affordable and accessible for everyone in our community. This programme is generously subsidised thanks to funding support from TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of our participants. Available to persons 16yrs and over. You must attend 80% of the classes. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
