Fall Outing Hike: St. Regis Mountain Fire Tower (Sat #8)

St. Regis Mountain is part of the Saranac Lake 6er Hiking Challenge and an ADK Fire Tower. A climb to the summit yields magnificent views in nearly all directions. McKenzie Mountain and the High Peaks can be seen to the south.

Directly below is an outspread of lakes and ponds within the St. Regis Canoe Area. The summit also has a restored fire tower dating back to 1918. It was an active fire tower observation station until 1990. In 2015, the Friends of St. Regis Mountain Fire Tower began restoration work to restore the tower to its former glory.
