For rising grades 5–7

You love Minecraft, and you've heard that Python is the top programming language.
That’s why we meet you where you already are – inside Minecraft.
With Python for Minecraft, you'll write real Python code to control your very own Agent (a programmable helper in Minecraft Education Edition). You can instruct the Agent to build a castle using just one loop, dig an entire mine in seconds, or create a self-planting forest. You'll see your code come to life instantly in a world you already enjoy.
Last summer, this program was a favorite among middle schoolers who believed coding "wasn't for them." It turns out that they just needed the right motivation.

What You'll Learn and Build

The Minecraft Agent

You will program your very own Agent. The Agent can:

  • Move, turn, and climb ladders
  • Break and place any block
  • Detect what’s in front of it (Is it stone? Diamond? Lava?)

Projects You'll Build

Get Moving

  • Move the Agent in a square (your first program!)
  • Build a watchtower block by block
  • Dig a perfect 5x5 mine shaft
  • Program the Agent to dance

  • Build a house with walls, roof, and door—automatically
  • Create a tree farm that plants and harvests.
  • Navigate a maze using the Agent's sensors.
  • Design your own creation: a roller coaster, bridge, or pixel art
