Advanced Knitting: Brioche in the Round
Once you’ve mastered the basic brk and brp brioche stitch, an easy next step is to learn how to knit brioche in-the-round. We’ll be knitting Petits Fours, a cowl that takes you through wide stripes of two-colour brioche. The edges are worked in one colour 1x1 rib (at the top) and one-colour brioche (at the bottom), giving it some shaping and allows makers to knit brioche in-the-round (in one- and two-colours), practice switching colour positions, and gain some experience managing yarn at the beginning of the round.
The session is structured for knitters familiar with one- and two-colour brioche, worked flat. Participants will need to know how to knit in-the-round on circular needles and in their preferred in-the-round method.
Skill Level: firm understanding of the brk and brp stitch (in one- and two-colour brioche, worked flat), 1x1 rib, how to yarn-over and the long tail CO. Note: If knitting in the Eastern European or combination method, please note adapting how the yarn is wrapped may need to be adjusted for an easier process as we work through each lesson in the class.
Included in class: a digital copy (on Ravelry) and printed copy of the pattern.
Please Bring: yarn you’ve chosen for your project, needles and notions needed to knit the cowl.
Homework: bring required materials, and a notebook and pen if you want to take additional notes.
Please note: the classroom is up 14 steps.
