For rising grades 5–7
In this creative and tech-powered camp, campers will learn to design, model, and 3D print their custom creations! Using beginner-friendly software like TinkerCAD or Fusion 360, campers will explore the whole process of 3D design—from sketching concepts to bringing them to life with real-world 3D printing. Each day, campers will build design skills, tackle fun challenges, and see their digital ideas transformed into physical objects they can take home.
Have you ever wished you could reach into your screen and grab something you drew? Now you can.
In our 3D Design & Modeling Camp, you'll learn how to create real, printable 3D models using professional-style software that's made for beginners. Then – the magic happens – you'll watch a 3D printer build your design layer by layer, right before your eyes.
By the end of camp, you won't just have files on a computer. You'll have physical objects you designed yourself to take home, show off, and even give as gifts.

What You'll Learn and Create
Design Fundamentals
- Navigate Tinkercad, a free, browser-based platform perfect for beginners.
- Understand the differences between solids, holes, and groups.
- Master the move, scale, rotate, and align tools.
- Design your first object: a custom keychain featuring your name.
Advanced Techniques
- Create interlocking parts and hinges.
- Design functional objects.
- Learn about overhangs, supports, and printability.
- Prepare files for 3D printing by understanding the basics of slicing software.
The Printing Process
- Learn about different materials, including PLA, colors, and textures.
- Understand printing settings, including layer height, infill, and speed.
- Every participant will print multiple projects, not just one!
