Workshop dates:
Friday, Saturday and Sunday. September 25th, 26th and 27th 9:00 am to 4:30 pm each day
Members: $240 Non-members: $280
Material fee and what it covers:
- Paid to the Instructor on the first day of class.
- $15.00 for handouts, needles for hemstitching and fabric markers
Registration opens:
- For members: Tuesday, June 30th at 12:00 noon (You must have the TWG members only password to register during the early registration period)
- For non-members: Tuesday, July 28th at 12:00 noon

Description:
Unlock the world of creative possibilities in weaving by breaking away from the standard rectangle! In this immersive 2-1/2-day workshop, participants will delve into the art of weaving shaped edges. Learn to create geometric and organic shapes that can stand alone or are connected by raw unwoven yarn, creating dynamic movement.
From beginners to advanced weavers, everyone is invited to exploretechniques that transcend traditional rectangular boundaries of weaving. Discover how to create shaped edges that not only stay secure but also add a charismatic flair to your woven masterpieces.
Prerequisites for participants:
Participants must have basic weaving knowledge and the ability to dress a loom and be able to read a pattern. Beginners and advanced weavers are welcome; the workshop will be tailored to accommodate various skill levels.
Materials to be provided by/additional instructions for students:
Students Will Provide:
- Table, floor loom (4 shaft +) or rigid heddle loom
- Yarn Bobbins, pirns, and 1 to 3 shuttles
- Craft paper or parchment paper than can be used to draw a cartoon on. Bristol board is also an option for a more rigid paper.
- Notebook with pen or pencils
- Non-fabric scissors
- Fabric scissors
- Battery powered lamp or clip on light for loom (optional)
Please bring a lunch or snack if you would like. Access to a refrigerator and microwave are available in the building.

- Any weaving required to finish your project after the workshop must be done at TFAC during Drop-in hours or other prearranged times. Looms may not leave the facility.
