Carve your own bowl mold (scratch bowl) to be cast in aluminum during May Third Friday at the Liberty Arts Foundry! Proceeds from this class directly support the Iron Heroes Program!

You will receive 1 single 6” diameter blank bowl mold (a block of resin-bonded sand; “scratch bowl”) into which you can carve any shallow-relief design you wish. Bowl molds will be carved the day BEFORE the actual aluminum pour, to allow time for you to carve and for us to prepare the mold for pouring.

Bowl molds may take between 1.5 and 2.5 hours to carve, depending on your design. There is no experience necessary, nor any need to bring your own safety gear. We will provide instruction, safety gear, tools, and materials in this workshop. Cost per individual is $175 ($140 for early bird registration before May 7th!). Multiple scratch bowls will require multiple registrations, as we must keep track of each block.

This class will be held at The Liberty Arts Foundry at 528 Foster Street, Durham, NC 27701.

Pouring the Aluminum: Everyone is welcome to come to the Liberty Arts Foundry on Friday, May 15th at 7:30pm to watch the pouring commence, so invite your friends & family!
