Professional Scrum Master Advanced (PSM-A)
PSM-A
Deepen your impact as a Scrum Master
Professional Scrum Master - Advanced is a two-day class from Scrum.org for experienced Scrum Masters ready to move past the basics. This is not more Scrum theory. It develops the stances, judgement and leadership presence that separate effective Scrum Masters from the rest. You leave with a free attempt at the PSM II assessment.
Is this for you?
You will get the most from this class if you are:
- A Scrum Master with roughly a year of hands-on experience
- PSM I certified and looking to deepen your practice
- An Agile coach or team lead serving Scrum Teams in complex environments
- Ready to move from applying Scrum to leading through it
This is probably not for you if you are new to the role. Start with PSM.
What’s in your way right now
- You are comfortable facilitating and stuck when the real issue is conflict, resistance or a dependency you do not control
- Middle management is the obstacle and you have no strategy for working with them
- You reach for a process answer when the problem is human
- You are busy, and you are not certain the busyness is changing anything
Just imagine
Recognising within thirty seconds which stance a situation calls for, and having the range to deliver it. Sitting across from a sceptical director and leaving with an ally rather than a stalemate. Coaching your Product Owner into decisions you used to make for them.
What you’ll be able to do
- Distinguish the practices, tools and stances that make a Scrum Master genuinely effective
- Use Scrum’s values and principles as a decision-making compass under pressure
- Support Developers and Product Owners in becoming more autonomous and outcome-driven
- Work with middle management instead of around it
- Facilitate performance dialogues that produce insight rather than status updates
What happens in the class
Two days working through four stances: Teacher, Coach and Mentor, Facilitator, and Change Agent. You practise with Liberating Structures, work real scenarios involving conflict and organisational friction, and get feedback on how you actually show up rather than what you know.
