High School Entrance Exam Strategy Intensive (HSPT & CPS Selective Enrollment).

Evergreen Park Public Library

3-Day Small Group | Start the summer strong. Get ahead before 8th grade begins.

This focused, small-group intensive is designed to give students a meaningful head start on high school entrance exams, including both the Catholic High School Placement Test (HSPT) and CPS Selective Enrollment exams, as well as the academic demands of 8th grade — a year that moves quickly and leaves little room to catch up.

In just three days, we will cover the most important elements of my full test preparation program, helping students build confidence, learn proven strategies, and understand how to approach standardized tests before the pressure of the school year begins.

This is not a lecture-style class. Students will be actively engaged, learning how to think through questions, avoid common mistakes, and approach each section with a clear strategy that applies across both testing formats.

What we will cover:

• Core concepts commonly tested across HSPT and CPS exams
• Strategy and pacing techniques for multiple-choice sections
• How to approach unfamiliar or difficult questions with confidence
• The most common mistakes students make and how to avoid them
• How to approach 8th grade with a clear testing and application plan

Students will also leave with a roadmap for how to continue preparation over the summer and into the fall.

Bonus: Final Review Session

Students will be invited back for a small-group final review session in late November, just ahead of the December HSPT. This session will reinforce key strategies, review important concepts, and help students walk into the test feeling confident and prepared.
(Date to be determined.)
