Session 4
The purpose of this four-session course is to invite participants to begin or continue to examine their professional and personal experiences using a lens of privilege and race. Attendees will interact online with their colleagues using personal stories, assigned readings, small and large group discussions, and videos. As a result of completing this course, participants will do the inner work resulting in each being better equipped with tools to live effectively and productively in a pluralistic society. In this way, the multicultural experience for themselves and others will be improved.
Participants will take away with them:
- A tool for life in the form of the Peace and Justice Institute Principles of “How We Treat Each Other” which promote a safe and inclusive community while engaging in structured conversations;
- Self-reflection and finding your own voice about issues of difference through a lens of privilege and race;
- An appreciation for the power of story;
- Diverse perspectives to engage and deepen critical thinking.
