Finding Hope in Hopeless Times

Tue, Oct 20, 2026, 5:30 – 7:30 PM EDT
Zoom

The current state of the world feels overwhelming. Political and social conflict, division, injustice, violence, and unrest continue to grow and spread. We are living in an era of constant uncertainty and upheaval. This can take a toll on our mental health and lead us to feel hopeless. How can we find and hold onto our hope in these seeming hopeless times. In this workshop we will approach the concept of hope, not as simply a feeling of optimism, but as something that is action-oriented, what Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone call “active hope.” During our time together, we will acknowledge the current reality, honor our pain, and discuss ways to transform despair into meaningful, life-affirming actions and intentions that will move us in the direction of what we hope for.
