A Masterclass in Characters (3 Week Intensive)
CHARACTERS MASTER CLASS
Create Bigger Characters. Make Bolder Choices. Steal Every Scene.
In this 3-week master class, students will learn how to create memorable, hilarious, and believable characters for both short form and long form improv. You’ll explore the difference between Static and Dynamic characters, when to use them, and how strong character work can instantly heighten scenes and make performances more engaging.
Through scene work, character exercises, and guided exploration, students will discover how to build characters using voice, physicality, point of view, and emotional commitment. You’ll learn where great characters come from, how to find inspiration in real life, and how to develop original characters you can use in your comedy whether that's improv, sketch, stand-up, or beyond.
Students will also create and perform an original character monologue before bringing that character into improvised scenes.
Whether you want to become a stronger improviser, create more memorable scene work, or simply get weird and have fun, this class will help you step outside yourself and fully commit to bold comedic choices.
In this class you’ll learn to:
- Build strong static and dynamic characters
- Heighten scenes through character choices
- Use voice, movement, and POV effectively
- Create original characters for improv and sketch
- Develop believable and hilarious character monologues
- Commit confidently to bigger comedic performances
- Bring a notebook, a willingness to play, and get ready to discover characters you didn’t even know were hiding inside you.
There are no prerequisites for this class, but some prior improv experience is a plus.
