In this class we will learn about epidemiology, or the study of epidemics. Disease Detectives will learn to analyze data to determine the source of a disease outbreak. Each week we will find clues to identify the Mystery Microbe, or learn a new laboratory technique. Students will record observations in their lab notebooks, utilize critical thinking skills, and perform experiments. We will also discuss how to stop the spread of disease by using proper hygiene, and other tools epidemiologists use to minimize disease transmission. Since the students may perform experiments, please have all students wear their hair back.

Students need to read independently, wear their hair back, and be able to follow safety instructions.
