Condensed Course Design Workshop

Online

The Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning (TTL) is excited to offer the Condensed Course Design Workshop again this summer. This practical, hands-on workshop is designed to support faculty in designing new, engaging condensed courses.

The workshop combines asynchronous learning with two live, interactive workshop sessions facilitated by Jenna Azar, Curriculum Designer in TTL. Participants will collaborate with colleagues while exploring evidence-based strategies for aligning learning outcomes, assessments, and learning activities within a condensed course format.

The live workshop sessions will be held on:

  • Friday, July 17 | 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
  • Friday, July 31 | 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

(See full workshop description here.)

The Office of the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs is offering:

  • A $300 stipend for undergraduate faculty who complete the full workshop
  • An additional $200 stipend upon implementation during J-Term or summer

Stipends are available for part-time and full-time undergraduate faculty who are developing a new undergraduate condensed course. The workshop is limited to 10 stipend-eligible participants, though faculty are also welcome to participate without the stipend.

We are especially interested in increasing course offerings in:

  • Upper-division electives within majors
  • Courses students take in sequence
  • ShenEd courses, particularly in:
  • Ethical Reasoning
      • Cultural Understanding
      • Creative Expression

You can register here—the sooner the better to secure stipend eligibility.

If you have questions about the workshop, please contact Jenna Azar (jenna.azar@su.edu)

Questions related to summer or j-term offerings or faculty stipends should be directed to Amy Sarch (asarch@su.edu).

We hope you’ll join us!
