Program Schedule

The Wild West Crew Programme is designed for sailors who have completed Irish Sailing Level 4 Advanced and are ready to take the next step towards leadership and future instructor development. As our youth programmes continue to grow, we are investing in developing a strong home-grown team by giving young sailors experience supporting sessions and building practical skills including:

  • navigation,
  • weather forecasting,
  • emergency and safety procedures,
  • anchoring + towing,
  • mark laying,
  • vessel handling with an introduction to powerboats and outboard engines,
  • communication skills and preparing short presentations.

We hope this programme offers a meaningful next step for young sailors and families who have already shown a huge commitment to their sailing journey at Wild West Sailing.

Course run over 2x Full Saturdays (20 + 27 June 2026) by our Senior Instructor Oisin Devlin. With oversight by Sophie Skinner, Yachtmaster Instructor Sail.

Course numbers will be kept low with 6x spaces being offered in total.

The course follows the Assistant Instructor syllabus, and qualifies the sailors as Assistants to the instructor team at Wild West Sailing training centre.

We will then utilise them as assistants on our Fairwinds and other training programs running from the Lake Base and Sligo bay in Summer months.
Cost: €95 for course
