Whether you are a woodworking master or a novice, you cannot avoid sharpening your chisels and/or plane irons. Did you know most of brand new chisels are not ready to be used as received? What are primary and secondary bevels and do you need them?

Dave Parkis and Scott Oliver will introduce various sharpening methods at the beginning, then you can practice your own sharpening skills hands on. The Hand Tools SIG members will be available to help you learn and answer questions during the session.

Sharpening is one of the most important skills for the hand tool woodworker and serves as the foundation for good results yet some find it frustrating to master. June session covers sharpening chisels. (Plane iron sharpening class will be scheduled separately.)

In this hands-on class, students will learn how sharpening works, the difference between mediums, use of honing guides to making your sharpening quicker and more effective.
