Printing and Colouring Anodised Aluminium
With Gillian Arnold
3.5 Hour Professional Workshop

Discover the creative possibilities of anodised aluminium in this inspiring hands-on workshop with designer maker Gillian Arnold.

Drawing on over 15 years of professional experience working with anodised aluminium, Gillian will guide participants through a range of specialist colouring, printing, and finishing techniques used within her established jewellery and interiors brand. Her distinctive cross-disciplinary practice combines surface design, colour exploration, and commercially refined processes developed through years of production, retail, and wholesale experience.

During the workshop, participants will create their own coordinated collection of anodised aluminium jewellery, including a cuff, earrings, and pendant, while learning the technical and creative skills needed to achieve professional results.

The workshop will cover:
• Professional immersion dyeing techniques, including colour mixing and dip dyeing
• The use of resists to create layered abstract and photographic effects
• Printing methods including mono printing and stamp creation
• Correct sealing methods to ensure colour permanence
• Finishing, polishing, and forming aluminium to a professional standard

Suitable for beginners and makers looking to expand their skills, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore surface pattern, colour, and metalwork through techniques grounded in real-world creative practice.
