Flattening Protruding Dowels - Chiseling Party

Tue, Jun 16, 2026, 7:00 – 9:00 PM EDT
Learning Center, 97 Railroad Ave., Albany, NY Map
Join the Hand Tool SIG for a Chiseling Party on June 16.

Several stools in the Learning Center need a little attention. Because of normal wood movement, some of the seat dowels are protruding slightly. This hands-on session is a great chance for beginners to learn useful hand tool techniques in a relaxed, supportive setting.

  • Learn the proper way to hold and control a chisel.
  • Practice using a flush-cutting saw to trim taller protrusions.
  • Try paring or slicing off smaller protrusions with a chisel.

Come meet fellow woodworkers, build your skills, and enjoy learning together. Experienced members are warmly invited to help newer members get hands-on practice.
