Sunday is Fusing Fun Day! - Over the Top Drops
Glass Cutting and Fusing Experience Is Required for This Class
Tuition includes all materials and firings for two over-the-top drop vessels.
Join Joyce, Harmony’s fusing guru and an award-winning glass artist, to learn how to craft your own unique art glass drop vessel. When you look at these spectacular vessels, you can't help but touch them. Because of this unique technique, they appear mouth-blown rather than kiln-formed. They are the result of managed heat, gravity and viscosity. We see them as a fascinating combination of art and science!
In this class, you'll learn how to design, assemble, drop and cold work to achieve gallery-level glass art. In addition to three class days, your tuition includes unique elements to include in your design such as screen melts, pattern bars, murrini and more!
This class has a lot of content. The schedule looks like this:
Day One: We’ll discuss the features of a drop vessel blank and you’ll design and create your first blank for a 5” tall vessel. You’ll also prepare your drop-out mold.
Day Two: The fused blank goes in the kiln. While we’re waiting for it to heat, you’ll create another blank. Once the blanks in the kiln get hot enough, we’ll monitor their progress until you’re satisfied with their height and touch down.
Day Three: We’ll put your second blank into the kiln to drop and we’ll coldwork the first vessel until it is worthy of presentation in an art gallery. The style of the second vessel won’t require any coldworking.
We require that you purchase any class tools and supplies here at Harmony. By doing so, you help ensure that your local stained glass store will be here as a place for fun and learning for many years to come.

I like the small class size and the ability to have one on one time with the instructor as well.
What a great afternoon! My husband & I pulled murrine (arranged in advance), which I’ve never done. Joyce is excellent to work with and helps you learn different techniques by letting you actually do it with her supervision. So happy with my glass!
I really enjoyed the class but, I wish we had an extra day of shop time to finish the other two patterns since we only got through one.
