Christian Walking Club

Come and enjoy five days of worship and walking, fun, food and fellowship as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ staying in the Bala Backpackers Hostel in a beautiful Conservation Area of Snowdonia.

Bala Backpackers Hostel is a 3 star graded BASIC guesthouse offering dormitory style accommodation at a very reasonable price despite this being a peak time. Everyone will have a single bed, as no bunks will be used, but two or three people will share a room. There are no single rooms. Married couples will have two single beds alone in a room.

You will need to bring your own launderable linen: two flat sheets (or a lightweight sack or duvet cover) and a pillow case. Bulky bedding items are provided: quilt and pillows on the mattress protector. You will also need to bring your own towel and soap.

Meals will be group dining from the fully-fitted, self catering, guest kitchen on a communal basis. One member has very kindly volunteered to cook the evening meals, but everyone will be expected to help with food preparation when needed, and to lay and wipe tables, wash up, serve and clear. Breakfast will be self-service, continental - style, including cereal, yoghurt, fruit, tea, coffee, juice, bread, spread, jam etc. Food will be provided for packed lunches, but everyone will make their own sandwiches and pack other items as required. The cost of food is included in the price, but if there is a shortfall, you may be asked to pay a little more. One meal out will be at your own expense, so allow around £20 for this.

There will be one walk each day, probably moderate on two days, and easy + on the other two days. Walks will include climbing some of the surrounding hills, but not the highest peaks of Snowdonia. It is hoped to climb Moel Emoel 549m on one day, but some walks will be on lower ground, but will still involve some ascent and descent. The routes chosen may need to be adapted according to weather conditions.

Details of local church services will be given nearer the time, but the walks will fit in with the timings of these services, so on some days, the plan may be to go on a shorter walk to fit in with the time of a church service. We will also have some times of worship and fellowship at the Hostel.

Some fun games will be organised in the evenings, but obviously all activities are optional (except washing up etc !!!)

This is a fabulous venue and you will have a great Christmas, but please remember that the CWC is a club run by volunteers; not by experts or paid staff !! Please come with a good Christian attitude of giving as well as receiving, and of encouraging. We are the family of God, and we want to bring honour and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ and, if we do that, we will have a wonderful time together !!

Price £173.00 is payable in full by 30th November. You can secure your place before then with a £50.00 deposit.
