Cyanotype Workshop - PRIVATE CLASS: LGBTQ Youth Center
For a group of 15 summer camp students from the LGBTQ Youth Center.
In this intro workshop, learn how to harness the power of the sun and simple chemistry to create beautiful photographic prints! Cyanotype is an accessible medium that is a fun way to express your creativity with an intuitive, process-based approach.
Using an assortment of botanicals and found objects, participants will learn the process of making traditional cyanotypes (the classic Prussian blue and white prints). We will then take our exploration a step further by introducing everyday experimental elements like dyes, salt, and vinegar to create unpredictable, altered effects and rich textures.
Perfect for self-expression, this hands-on workshop requires no prior experience. You will leave with a basic understanding of traditional and wet cyanotype techniques, your own unique handmade prints on watercolor paper, and the resources needed to continue learning and experimenting!
