Level 7: Free Form Improv
Free Form Improv is the final class in Spitfire’s seven-level core curriculum and an exploration of what happens when improvisers let go of form entirely. After studying structure, edits, various forms, short form games, narrative, and long form techniques, this class focuses on discovering the form organically in real time. Scenes can evolve, deconstruct, and transform into entirely new ideas, allowing each performance to become its own unique experience.
Rather than centering on one specific style of improv, Free Form embraces all of them. This class is about following the fun, trusting instinct, and creating without a roadmap. No two shows will ever look the same, and the goal is to build the confidence to step onstage with no predetermined structure and collaboratively create something completely unique to that moment.
