Happy Homework Habits
A System for Building Habits that Support Happy, Successful Kids
”How can I get my kid to…do their homework? Be more organized? Listen to directions? Improve executive functioning?”
“How can I get my kid to… finish their work? Show their potential? Ask for help? Stop lying to me? Stop being so manipulative?”
These are the questions parents have asked me as their child’s teacher for over 25 years.
So I collected all my observations and strategies, combined it with brain science, whole-child development, principles of mindfulness, and my own experience with thousands of middle school kids to create a family-friendly plan to identify and develop the foundations and core skills of successful homework habits.
Then I taught it to the parents of my students.
We soon realized, it’s not really about the homework. It was about the arguments, the forgetfulness, the manipulation, the pressure, and the exhaustion felt by everyone in the family.
When families implemented this new plan, it improved a lot more than homework completion. It improved family relationships, personal responsibility, and overall attitudes.
The Happy Homework plan is for parents with kids in Kindergarten through High School. It's a unique, flexible, empowering course, designed with the busy parent-life in mind.
This is 5-week parenting course that helps parents and caregivers understand the key components of creating responsible, peaceful, and manageable routines for kids as part of the School Yoga Coach -- Mindful Families Program.
Happy Homework Habits consists of one session per week for 5 weeks as a live, online course.
Participants will learn:
- how the attachment cycle develops, and how it applies to your chid
- the three skills of developmental independence
- the four criteria for completing academic homework
- the five steps to developing purposeful home/work habits
Participants will receive access to live 1-hour interactive instruction sessions, as well as a digital workbook, resource materials to use and adapt, access to recorded sessions. Edited recordings are shared for a limited time after the entire series has concluded.
Non-recorded discussion groups and coaching calls are available as optional add-ons throughout the course.
Just a few minutes of intentional awareness each day can help develop the routines, relationships, and resources needed to support your Mindful Family!
