Repair License Update Class UT079 | Transmission Diagnostics
This UPDATE class satisfies Smog Repair licenses that are expiring in the next 2 years.
This is a virtual class on ZOOM and requires a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and reliable internet access. You must have an active email in order to send the final answer sheet to the instructor. The ZOOM link will be provided the Friday before class. Course materials will be mailed to the shipping address provided.
This course is designed to help recertifying smog repair technicians meet the 16 hour continuing education requirement required to update their license renewal. 12 hours in this course and the 4 hours on-line completing the Inspector update training. This course is also available to automotive technicians wanting to improve their skills without possessing a smog repair license. Topics covered are in car transmission diagnosis to determine if the failure is internal to the transmission or external. Basic electrical testing procedures using a DMM and DSO. Scan tool testing applying math and system function to produce accurate diagnosis. Several case studies will be used to demonstrate these processes. This is a lecture course that covers 10 hours of lecture with the remaining 2 hours for the review and taking of the final. The final is optional for students not wanting credit for this class for license renewal.
