Disability Justice: From Self-Care to Collective Care - Exploring Spoon Theory Mental Health
A workshop exploring disability justice, Spoon Theory Mental health, accessibility, collective care, and sustainable community practices.
The disability justice workshop will explore concepts ‘Self Care’ vs “Collective Care” and how do we support our communities to create access for low-income and for disabled communities? How can we shift ideas of individualistic models of ‘Self Care’ to focus more on collective group ‘Communal Care.’
Exploring Spoon Theory Mental Health:
- Identify terminology associated with the disability justice movement.
- Participants will have the chance to explore concepts of ‘self-care' vs ‘taking care of oneself while exploring the framework of how sick and disabled communities use those terms vs how able-bodied people use those terms and how we as a community, a workplace community, and or a collective group can support each other through ‘collective care’.
- Workshop length is 1hr 30 mins
This is followed by a 25-minute Q/A already built-in for this event.
