Interpretation (Storytelling) (4th-5th)
What they will learn: In this imaginative and expressive class, students will learn to bring stories to life using their voice, face, and body. Focusing on traditional and original tales, students explore character, pacing, and tone while learning how to connect with an audience. Emphasis is placed on memory, sequencing, and vivid delivery rather than reading from a script.
How it applies to the real world: Storytelling helps students develop narrative thinking, stage presence, and audience engagement which are skills that support strong communication, leadership, and creative expression.
Deliverable: Students will perform a memorized story and have the opportunity to compete during tournaments and also a live showcase, demonstrating their storytelling techniques and performance skills.
*Prerequisite: Students enrolling in this class must have taken at least 1 semester of Art of Public Speaking or completed advanced Little Orator classes.
