Little Orator Competitive (Debate) (2nd-3rd)
What they will learn: In this dynamic program, students will learn to explain and support their opinions with evidence while understanding different perspectives. They'll master structuring their thoughts, organizing ideas under pressure, conducting research, and presenting their ideas with clarity and confidence. Through hands-on activities, students will develop active listening skills, remain calm while defending their ideas, and collaborate effectively with others.
How it applies to the real world: These communication and critical thinking skills have powerful real-life applications including participating in class discussions, communicating effectively with family and peers, and collaborating on projects. The ability to listen actively, understand diverse viewpoints, and express ideas confidently prepares students for academic success, and leadership roles.
Deliverable: By the end of the course, students will participate in a live showcase demonstrating their debate skills and compete in NSDA competitive tournaments throughout the session. Students will showcase their ability to articulate ideas clearly, remain composed under pressure, and engage in respectful argumentation.
*Prerequisite: Students enrolling in this class must have taken Little Orator Essentials A & B classes
