Interpretation (Humorous Interp) (6th-8th)
What they will learn: Students will build the foundational skills needed to succeed in Humorous Interpretation, including interpretation techniques such as popping and blocking, effective stage movement, and expressive vocal and emotional range. They'll learn how to engage an audience, develop confidence and stage presence, and "own the stage" through purposeful performance. The course also introduces beginner-friendly competition strategies, helping students understand event expectations and prepare for their first tournaments.
How it applies to the real world: Humorous Interpretation teaches students how to use humor to connect with an audience, communicate clearly, and tell engaging stories. The skills developed—confidence, timing, expressive speaking, creativity, and audience awareness—are valuable in everyday conversations, presentations, interviews, leadership roles, and careers where strong communication and the ability to engage others make a lasting impact.
Deliverable: Students will perform a10 minute memorized, humorous interpretation and have the opportunity to compete during tournaments and also a live showcase, demonstrating their interpretation techniques and performance skills.
*Prerequisite: Students enrolling in this class must have taken at least 1 semester of Art of Public Speaking or completed advanced Little Orator classes.
